Melissa Muriel, PMHNP-BC
Founder of Luna Psychiatry

Melissa Muriel, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and founder of Luna Psychiatry. Her path into this work was shaped by both personal adversity and growth, giving her a grounded understanding of resilience and the complex realities that influence mental health. That perspective shapes how she shows up for her patients today.

She brings experience across inpatient psychiatry and long-term care, along with a calm, collaborative approach to treatment. Melissa combines evidence-based psychiatry with an integrative lens, looking beyond symptoms to understand the full picture of each person’s mental health.

She understands that outward appearances rarely tell the whole story. Her care is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and genuine understanding of each person’s unique experience.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and their three dogs, cooking, hiking, being outdoors, and traveling.

My Training & Experience

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 12 years of clinical experience in psychiatric care.

I spent 8 of those years working as a nurse on inpatient psychiatric units, supporting older adults, adolescents, and individuals living with serious mental illness. That foundation continues to shape how I practice today.

Much of my career has focused on caring for adults navigating both medical and psychiatric conditions. This work deepened my belief that mental health is deeply connected to the body, lifestyle, and life circumstances.

I provide thoughtful, individualized care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and complex mental health concerns.
